WHAT IS CO-OP TRAINING MODEL?
“CO-OP”, short for “Cooperative Education Program”, is an integrated education model that brings the University and Business world together.
The program, which has been successfully implemented by Altınbaş University since 2014, aims to experience the knowledge given at the university with the professionals of business life.
We have nearly 200 contracted companies, including many sectors that continue to increase every period.
The CO-OP Education Model, carried out by the Internship and Co-op Directorate, is applied in our Faculties of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering and Natural Sciences, Fine Arts and Design, Applied Sciences.
HOW IS CO-OP TRAINING MODEL APPLIED?
The CO-OP Education Model is applied to our students who have completed the 3rd grade in our faculties that have a CO-OP Program in their curriculum. Our students gain experience in a real business environment by working in an industrial or commercial enterprise that is contracted for 6 months between July and December.
CO-OP is not a compulsory program and students can apply voluntarily. In addition, students have the opportunity to apply the CO-OP education while the academic education period continues.
CO-OP TRAINING MODEL PARTICIPATION PROCESS
APPLICATIONS: Applications in the Spring Semester of Grade 3 (April and May) are received by the Internship and Co-op Directorate with the approval of the advisor.
INTERVIEW: The resumes of our students are shared with our contracted companies. Appropriate candidates go through the CO-OP interview processes of the companies and experience the interview experience, which is the first step of business life.
RESULT: Candidates who successfully complete all interview processes by the companies start the program as of July.
CO-OP TRAINING MODEL
Students who successfully complete the 3rd grade are eligible to participate in the CO-OP Education Model. After doing CO-OP, he must continue his education at the university for at least one more semester.
Our students work full-time in the companies they are admitted to, from July to September, and actively in the company for a minimum of 3 working days during the academic period covering September – December.
Students who do CO-OP earn course credits for their graduation. The courses this credit will be for are determined on the basis of the program. At the end of the semester, the student prepares a graduation project depending on the lecture taken.
In order for our students to be considered successful in the CO-OP Program, they must complete the CO-OP Notebook throughout the program.
CO-OP PROTOCOL AND INSURANCE PROCESSES
We have a goodwill protocol that we signed with our contracted companies in order to present the CO-OP Education Model to the Higher Education Institution.
In this process, all insurance transactions of our students are carried out by our university.
BENEFITS OF THE CO-OP TRAINING MODEL
It shortens the adaptation period to business life after graduation by giving students the ability to use and apply the theoretical knowledge they have received.
The company trains the graduates to be recruited in line with their own requirements and hires candidates who adopt the corporate culture.
It enables students to get to know their responsibilities, organizational skills, production process and new technologies in the workplaces they will work within the scope of CO-OP.
CO-OP Education Model means WIN-WIN-WIN for the FIRM-STUDENT-UNIVERSITY trio.
